Center for
the Study of Political Parallelism
Parallelism is a theory of social processes. It represents an attempt at systematizing historical events. This has led to the development of a series of theories and classificatory schemas for revolutions, wars, political systems, etc. The parallelistic approach is different in that it assumes that such processes can not only be understood, but exposed through the use of scientific and predictive systems. Currently the approach has identified two macro historical patterns: The first is Revolution Pattern Type A, and the second is Hegemonic War Pattern Type A. Sometimes these coincide to form Revolution-Hegemonic War Pattern Type A.  Parallelism has particular relevance to political events in Islamic Iran.

The center was founded in 1996 in order to further the study of historical events from parallelistic, Freudian, and Weberian perspectives.  Dr. Wells has taught at two major US universities, has been a security consultant for the US Navy (terrorism, Islamic Fundamentalism, Iran, Middle East), and a policy analyst for the US government. He has numerous scholarly publications, most recently: "Parallelism: A Handbook of Social Analysis, The Study of Revolution and Hegemonic War" (Xlibris, 2002), "Thermidor in Islamic Iran: The Rise of Muhammad Khatami"(British Journal of Middle Eastern Studies, 1999) and "The Freud-Weber Connection, the Case of Islamic Iran" (JPCS, 2003). "Parallelism" the handbook is now available at Amazon.com, Barnes and Nobles.com, and Walmart.com. It deals with the psychological underpinnings of the Iranian Revolution, Islamic fundamentalism, and terrorism, among other topics. Read the book on-line or purchase a copy.
